Planning for better outcomes
Planning issues affect our Northside community in a wide variety of ways. Long-term strategic planning is required to meet the big serious social, environmental and economic challenges, while small local planning issues can have large positive or negative effects on our lifestyles, health, and enjoyment of our everyday lives. People joining our Planning and Development Working Group have an opportunity to explore what we can do together to address how good planning and people-oriented development control measures can do to improve community life in our area.
By listening to residents’ ideas, concerns and suggestions and embracing research, innovation and best-practice models from other jurisdictions, we hope to work constructively with elected representatives to achieve better outcomes.

FAQs
What is involved/expected of me if I decide to join this Working Group?
Our group is made up of people from our community who are interested in state planning legislation and Council local laws, planning, building and enforcement issues, but also regional/strategic planning across sectors (transport, environment, business etc.). Our group members work together, mainly online and only spending as much time as you can afford, given our busy lifestyles. Our job is to address concerns of residents, to research related topics and add to our local body of knowledge about those planning issues we want our elected representatives to engage with on our behalf. This may include issues at the local, state, national or global level.
