Petitions and Open Letters
Add your name to what City of Moreton Bay residents are asking of their elected representatives.
How we take your voice to government
A petition is the formal way for residents to ask a Council or a Parliament to act. Each level of government has its own rules about the petitions it will accept.
- City of Moreton Bay Council accepts petitions only on paper, on its own template. It does not accept petitions signed online.
- The Queensland Parliament runs its own e-petitions. These are lodged through the Clerk of the Parliament and signed on the Parliament's own website. When NCV runs one, we link to it from this page.
Until Council accepts online petitions, NCV uses open letters. An open letter is a letter from residents to an elected representative or decision-maker. You can sign it here online, or on paper at an NCV stall or event. Every online signature is confirmed by email, everyone signs once, and every signer gives the suburb they live in. When signing closes, we give the result to the people the letter is addressed to: how many signed, and the suburbs they came from. Signers' names are never published.
Open letters are an interim step. Our first one asks Council to accept online petitions from genuine residents of the city.
