The Startup Toolkit
A way of working, and the tools behind it, for starting a Voices Group with just a few people and not much else. In development — shown here as a preview, not offered as a finished product.
Every Voices Group starts the same way: a handful of people who care enough to try, and not much else — no template, no platform, no proven way of doing things. A lot of early energy gets spent reinventing basics that someone, somewhere, has already worked out.
The Startup Toolkit is NCV's answer to that problem — designed by our President, David Grogan, as a genuinely sound, proven model that a small group of founders can pick up and run with from day one.
What it actually gives you
- A set of real document templates — constitution, code of conduct, terms of service, privacy policy, business plan — adapted from working models rather than started from a blank page.
- An IT platform that's genuinely easy to learn and operate, built to guide volunteers through the tasks that matter rather than expecting them to master a complicated system first.
- Tools that walk a Hub Manager through listening to their community's needs and turning that into a credible, authentic voice to government — the actual purpose of the whole exercise, not an afterthought bolted onto generic software.
- Room to grow. The platform starts simple enough for a handful of pioneers, but the same tools scale up as an organisation matures and its people become more confident using them.
Who it's for
Groups at the very beginning — a few committed people, low resources, and a genuine desire to do this properly rather than improvise forever. If that's where you are, this is built with you specifically in mind.
This is offered the same way the Backgrounder Library is — built for our own use first, shared because there's no good reason to make every new group start from nothing. If you'd like to know more, get in touch through our contact form.
