Kitchen Table Conversations

Not everything gets said in a form

Not everything gets said in a form. Some of the most useful conversations happen face to face, around a table.

A Kitchen Table Conversation is a small, informal gathering — hosted by an NCV member, usually in someone’s home — where a facilitator talks through local priorities with a handful of neighbours. It’s one of the oldest and most effective ways community organisations actually listen, and it feeds directly into everything else on this site.

To attend or host one

Register through our events calendar below. We ask everyone attending for their suburb, gender, and age band when they arrive — never their name — and our facilitator notes the issues raised against those details only. Everything discussed joins the same system as issues raised online, and shows up, anonymised, on What’s been raised and What we’ve heard.

Event registration is managed through our Meetings and Events page — check there for upcoming Kitchen Table Conversations near you.

Want to host one yourself? Get in touch and we’ll help you set it up.
