At Northside Community Voices, we believe that democracy works best when our community is working closely with our Local Government Councillors and they are chosen by us, to run on our behalf, not serving the interests of large political parties (with whom many may be formally or informally aligned) or business, union or industry interests. We’re one of many Voices movements nation-wide that are determined to put people-powered politics at the fore-front of how democracy works -particularly at the Local Government level. The one that is closest to every-day life, community wellbeing and sustainable environmental management.

Right now, before the next Council elections, your voice matters. You have the chance to nominate someone you know – or to put your own name forward – as an independent candidate who genuinely reflects the values and priorities of people of your local area.
By standing as an independent for the next Council elections in 2028, a candidate commits to:

• Prioritise the community over outside interests and party politics
• Listen to your neighbours and local residents and act on what matters to the community
• Combat mis- and dis-information and champion evidence-based solutions to the issues we collectively care about
• Hold true to community values of fairness, transparency, integrity and equality.
